Activity description:

CORE is a not-for-profit international association of Internet domain name registrars, established under Swiss law, whose corporate purpose is to operate a Shared Registry System (SRS) for Internet domain names, on a cost-recovery basis. CORE was created in 1997 based on the Generic Top-Level Domains Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in order to launch new names spaces. CORE is a Registrar accredited by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and currently operates as a registrar for domain names for the TLDs: .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .name, .us, .cn, .coop, .tw, .aero, .mobi, .travel, .in, .at, .tv, .cc, .co.uk. (See complete list: http://www.corenic.org/availabledomains.htm)

Additional services:

The CORE Shared Registry System (SRS) enables CORE members to access TLDs in real time, guaranteeing ownership of the domains and maintaining contact with the information through a shared database linked to a common Whois server structure. Thanks to the SRS and the management tools provided, CORE members are able to: Add new domain names and delete existing names, Modify server information regarding the names of existing domains, Transfer names from another distributor, Add and modify DNS servers, Consult the database of the register operator, Verify availability of names in real time and Generate reports. CORE members share the SRS as a technical resource. CORE supplies the infrastructures (back-end) and each member uses them in accordance with their needs and the needs of their clients. CORE, through its members, is an active participant in the activities of the ICANN and DNSO, as well as the Registrar Constituency processes. CORE supports the launching of new TLDs in a responsible manner, considering them at all times to be resources of public interest. CORE membership lists, organised by distinct criteria, can be found on: http://corenic.org/find.htm.
