Since last November 20, Red.es has modified the .es domain transfer process among its network of Registrars. This change means an alignment with the regulations in force in most of the countries that make up the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries (CENTR).
Prior to receiving the message by which the Administrative Contact Person (ACP) of a domain must accept or deny its transfer, it will be necessary for the registrar in charge of its management to provide an authorization code (AuthCode) to the domain holder and for the latter to send it to the new company in charge of its registration.
With this procedure Red.es tries to avoid unwanted transfers, as well as a better knowledge on the part of the outgoing and incoming registrars about the management of the domains linked to their portfolio.
The authorization code will consist of between 6 and 16 alphanumeric characters, will be mandatory at the time of the transfer, will be valid for 10 days from the date of issue or until it is used and will not be issued for domain names that are blocked by the Registry.
Red.es, the public entity attached to the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function, is in charge of the registration of domain names under the national top-level code “.es”. The management of .es domains is carried out following the guidelines established by the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, in compliance with European and global regulations.
