Below we explain how you can change the holder of a “.es” domain, both when it is managed by an Accredited Registrar and by Dominios.es. This process is called a Domain Transfer.
There are two types of change of holder or transfer:
Change of holder
There is a series of factors linked with a change of holder or Ordinary Transfer:
Request for a change of holder by the former domain holder
Option 1. Domain managed by an Accredited Registrar
If your “.es” domain is managed by an Accredited Registrar, the following people may start an Ordinary Transfer:
-
The Accredited Registrar who manages your domain name
-
The domain holder
-
The Administrative Contact Person
When the Accredited Registrar initiates the process, the Holder or Administrative Contact Person will receive notification by e-mail and must either confirm or reject the initiation of the process.
They must then access the Dominios.es control panel using their ID and password in order to validate the action (confirm or reject).
When the Holder or the Administrative Contact Person initiated the process, they must access the Dominios.es control panel using their ID and password, and select the “option “Domain Transfer Request”.
Option 2. Domain not managed by an Accredited Registrar
If the “.es” domain is not managed by an Accredited Registrar, the following may initiate the transfer process:
-
The domain holder
-
The Administrative Contact Person.
The Holder or the Administrative Contact Person must access the Dominios.es control panel using their ID and password, and select the option “Domain Transfer Request”.
Request for the acceptance of conditions by a new holder
The person shown as the new Administrative Contact Person will receive notification by e-mail in order to confirm or reject the transfer by accessing the Dominios.es control panel using their ID and password.
In order to confirm it, they must accept the terms and conditions and request that the details associated with the domain be updated.
Special domain transfer
In the case of universal succession inter vivos or mortis causa, or company succession, the successor can continue to use the name provided they comply with the following guidelines:
Request for the acceptance of conditions by a new holder
The Administrative Contact Person for the domain name must access the Dominios.es control panel using their ID and password, and select the option “Special domain transfer request”, and request that the registration data be modified.
In this case, they must provide certifying documents accrediting the special circumstances referred to in this section.
To submit requests, you must identify yourself in one of the following ways:
-
A Electronic DNI/Certificate. (*)
-
B Photocopy of DNI or other certifying document.
After receiving and validating all of the above-mentioned information, Red.es will send an e-mail to the new holder, or, where appropriate, the Accredited Registrar, as the former holder, to confirm that the transfer has been made.
It should be noted that the data provided for “.es” domains must be accurate and truthful, in particular those of the Holder and the Administrative Contact Person. Otherwise, the domain transfer will not be made and Dominios.es may initiate a cancellation procedure for that domain.
For further information about this procedure, please see the User Manual.
(*) Electronic DNI/Certificate
You need a digital certificate such as the electronic DNI (DNIe) or one issued by one of the following certification authorities:
