Madrid, 7 August 2009. The registration and renewal periods of ‘.es’ domains, controlled by the public entity RED.ES, are being extended from one to five years. This initiative guarantees the user ownership of the digital identity for a longer period of time by eliminating the annual renewal process.

“.ES” domains constitute an online brand image that boasts a series of advantages over other domains. First of all, it means having a web site directly linked to Spanish culture, in the Spanish language, and with a name that is easy to remember.

It also offers its owners, whether private individuals or organisations, protection against cyberoccupation, thanks to an extrajudicial procedure for resolving disputes that prevents third parties from using “.es” domains speculatively or to damage the image of the legitimate owners. Multiyear ".ES” domains contracts, available as of the end of 2008, can be subscribed through accredited red.es Registration Agents.
