Madrid, 15 October 2009. Changing the name of the holder, the holder¿s electronic mail address and the personal details of the administrative contact for an ".es" domain are some of the formalities that can now be performed using an electronic signature through red.es, the Public Corporate Entity that reports to the Ministry of Industry and manages ".es" domains.

The procedure is now quite simple. Download the request in PDF format from the web site www.dominios.es, complete it, sign it electronically using your digital certificate and send it to cambios@nic.es. Using an electronic signature means you do not have to manually sign the form or attach a photocopy or scanned copy of your DNI (Spanish identity card).

Electronic signatures speed up formalities and save time as they do not require physical presence or the presentation of additional documentation to validate the identity of the person carrying out the process. They also save money by eliminating the need to print documents, as the whole process takes place electronically.

In order to use an electronic signature, you must obtain a digital certificate such as the electronic DNI (DNIe) or another issued by any of the following certification authorities: CERES (Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre); Consejo General de la Abogacía; Autoridad de Certificación de la Comunidad Valenciana; Camerfirma (Chambers of Commerce); IZENPE (Basque Country government); Agencia Catalana de Certificación; Ecofirma (Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade) or VeriSign [Read more]. You must also have the corresponding software installed in the computer.
